Local Liberal Democrat branches have merged to form a single branch covering the whole New Forest West parliamentary constituency.
The new stream-lined organization will be simpler to run than many small local branches, allowing members to spend more time campaigning on behalf of voters across the constituency.
With their sister branch in New Forest East, the party will be able to work to maximum effect across the entire area covered by the National Park and New Forest District Council.
Newly elected Chair of the New Forest West branch, Councillor Paul Hickman, welcomed the new arrangements.
"As Liberal Democrats we want to spend our time working on everyday issues that concern local people, and having a simple organization will help this.
I hope that our clear messages and active campaigning will encourage more people to join and get involved."
The new executive officers are:
• Chair: Councillor Paul Hickman, ph@sca.co.uk
• Vice-chair: Wyn Davies, wynbdavies@sky.com
• Treasurer: Beverly Scott-Johns, bmscottjohns@talktalk.net
• Secretary: Councillor Martina Humber, martina.humber@btinternet.com
