Earlier in the year, Totton North Lib Dem County Councillor Alan Weeks, signed up to the 1010 pledge.

This is a commitment to reduce the carbon footprint by 10% during 2010.

Alan has fulfilled his commitment by having a bank of 18 solar panels installed on his home.

These will supply peak power of over 3KW into his home with any unused excess being supplied back to the grid.

Alan says “Not only is this the green thing to do, but also with the introduction of Feed In Tariffs by the government, it also makes economic sense.” visit decc website.

“Saving the planet can also save you money.”
