The Headquarters of the Royal British Legion, Totton was recently packed with friends, family and well wishers whilst more than thirty men and women were presented with Her Majesty’s Armed Forces Veterans Badge.
The badges and certificates were presented by Terry Scriven who was a colonel in the Royal Military Police and has been busy organising the recognition due to our own “local heroes”.
Terry says “When you take up your oath of allegiance you are giving up a lot, including your safety and security. You can be called up to operational duties at a moment’s notice, putting your life on the line. It’s important that the nation recognises the great demands placed upon you”.
The oldest veteran to receive a Veterans badge was 92 year old Leonard Thomas and the youngest was 33 year old David Miller.
