New Forest East Liberal Democrat Prospective MP, Terry Scriven, has welcomed news that a new pedestrian crossing is to be installed near the Twiggs Lane junction on the A326 at Marchwood.
At present, pedestrians have no means of stopping traffic.
It can be very difficult to cross the road especially for parents with young children attending the nearby Marchwood Infants School.
Successful lobbying for major highway safety improvements led to an investment of over £300,000 from Hampshire County Council.
This included a reduction in the speed limit at the junction. The reduction in traffic speed has enabled the new pedestrian crossing to be installed.
Terry Scriven says “It’s great news. I am very sure that the new crossing will work.
This is an example of public money being well spent. It could prevent a serious accident involving injuries or loss of life”.
