Liberal Democrat Prospective MP for New Forest East, Terry Scriven, has approached the South Central Strategic Health Authority, (SHA) to see if a compromise can be reached that will stop short of the need to add fluoride to local tap water.
In a letter to Dr Geoffrey Harris, Chairman of the South Central SHA, Terry Scriven asks to meet with board members and discuss a possible deal that will see an end to the legal wrangle and widespread public anger about the plans.
Colonel Scriven has already met with the Vice Chairman of The British Dental Association and the Area Director of Hampshire Primary Care Trust, responsible for dentistry.
He says “We have a situation where nobody is benefiting.
The proposals are opposed by the majority of local people and we have NHS money being spent on lawyers rather than health care.
Nobody has so far been able to unlock this state of affairs.
I’m hoping that some direct discussion will yield a better result”.
