Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Terry Scriven, wants to see local people able to ride the “Fawley Flyer”.
Terry has been researching local transport issues with Councillor David Harrison, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on New Forest District Council, and Gordon Richardson, the County Council candidate for South Waterside.
There is a railway line that leads all the way from Fawley, up the Waterside, linking to Southampton.
However, it is only single track and now only used for transporting commercial goods.
The three campaigners visited the small railway station at Marchwood.
The introduction of a passenger service would very likely prove popular and reduce congestion on the busy A326.
Terry Scriven says “A passenger service, perhaps known as The Fawley Flyer, could become reality with good co-operation from local authorities and government support”.
Gordon Richardson says “Such a service would give a great boost to the local economy and would be good for the environment”. |
