The New Forest Village of Marchwood is set to benefit from a £50,000 boost to improve pedestrian facilities.
Hampshire County Council is to invest the money, collected from developer’s contributions, to improve pedestrian safety in different parts of the village.
The plans have been given the thumbs up from the local County Councillor, David Harrison who says “I’m delighted that this work is to go ahead next year.
It covers a number of problem areas, ranging from widening the pavement in front of St. John’s church, Main Road, making it safer to cross Normandy Way, especially for the residents of the Admiralty Quay Estate and providing dropped kerbs at existing crossing points in the village centre.”
A further £50,000 is being held in reserve whilst work is undertaken looking at the viability of other schemes including the possibility of car parking for Marchwood Infants School and a safer cycle & footway links from the village to neighbouring towns.
