| Colonel Terry Scriven |
Colonel Terry Scriven, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for New Forest East, has been appointed Chairman of the national Liberal Democrats Friends’ of the Armed Forces.
Terry said, I am delighted to have become the Chair of an organisation that is not only a mouthpiece for serving members of the Armed Forces, Veterans and their families but can also help bring about change in their quality of life.
County Councillor Brian Dash said, I know that Terry has been a member of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) Forces Help here in the New Forest for a number of years.
He has seen at first hand the hardship suffered by many families and difficulties of those ex service people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I have become a member of the Friends of the Armed Forces to help those in need in the Forest and to support Terry, in what I am sure will be a most fulfilling experience.
The Liberal Democrat Friends of the Armed Forces has a Committee representing the various Regions within the UK, the three services and families from which it provides guidance and support to its members.
The Honorary President is Lord John Lee of Trafford who is the Liberal Democrat Defence spokesman in the House of Lords.
Current membership includes many Liberal Democrat MPs and is spread throughout the United Kingdom.
Totton, County Councillor Alan Weeks said, “ I am proud to have become a Member of the Liberal Democrats Friends’ of the Armed Forces.
Terry’s involvement with the Royal British Legion here in the Totton and Eling Branch should ensure the concerns of our local servicemen and women who are serving or who have served are taken right to the top.
Both they and Terry deserve our full support. |
