Cadland Primary School and Children’s Centre was officially opened today (04 June 2008) by Hampshire County Councillor Brian Dash, a member of the Children and Young People Select Committee.
Children from as young as 6 months old will be able to attend the nursery and the school can accommodate children up to 11 years of age.
Mrs Helen Wilson, Chair of Governors, said that she was thrilled by the new facility and thanked all involved with making it possible, especially, Head Teacher David Mews who personally took on the responsibility of project managing the new build.
Guests were entertained by Year 6 children singing songs and then playing steel drums as guests, staff, parents and children toured the new Children’s Centre.
Commenting on the opening of the new Cadland Primary School facilities and early years unit Brian Dash said, “This is what we have been waiting for, the buildings and facilities that the children and community of Holbury deserve.
The Junior & Infant school amalgamation to form the Cadland Primary school has been a success and great credit is due to Governors, Head and all staff who made it so. We saw how well the children performed in assembly.
They were able, confident and happy and that is what a good school is all about.
I am also delighted to see the addition of the Early Years unit which will enable young children and families to access learning and other services which will give them the best start. |
