The Liberal Democrats have awarded a top award to New Forest Parliamentary Campaigner, Terry Scriven.
Terry was shortlisted for the special “Media Performance Award”, having achieved a record number of nominations from party members in the New Forest area. He won the “Opinion Former” section for his tireless work in campaigning on issues ranging from Health, Education and Crime, the Armed Forces and The Environment.
Terry was hard at work, being interviewed, making speeches and networking with senior Liberal Democrat politicians during the recent Federal Conference, held at Brighton. His latest campaign in the New Forest relates to the broken covenant, highlighting the various hardships of serving and ex-members of the Armed Forces and calling upon the government to meet moral obligations to those who have served.
Terry has also been very active in making the case for a better deal for disadvantaged young people, particularly those that rely on the Connexions Service, (currently under threat). Additionally, Terry has set up regular meetings with local senior police representatives, ensuring that he is fully briefed on crime and anti-social behaviour problems in the constituency.
Councillor Brian Dash, Chairman of New Forest Liberal Democrats says “Terry is very deserving of this award. He has gained huge respect for his work highlighting key concerns in the New Forest area. He also seems to have a knack for getting problems sorted out quickly”. |
