Local Parliamentary Campaigner Terry Scriven talking to Nick Harvey MP the Shadow Secretary of State for Defence. |
A local Parliamentary Campaigner has forged an important link with a top politician. Terry Scriven, Liberal Democrat Prospective Member of Parliament for New Forest East recently took the opportunity to discuss the situation concerning support for the Armed Forces and in particular those ex service people in the New Forest with Nick Harvey the Shadow Secretary of State for Defence.
He discussed the importance of supporting the Royal British Legion Campaign 'Broken Covenant' and also received support for the campaign shortly to be launched by Lib Dems in the New Forest in respect of the Veterans badge, which is now available for all ex servicemen and women who have served in the Armed Forces up to 1994.
Terry was asked by Nick to become one of his advisers in respect of matters affecting the Armed Forces. Terry says “Nick Harvey was really interested and supportive of my campaign work in the New Forest. I’m thrilled that he has asked me to advise him on matters affecting the Armed Forces. I feel my long military background and experience allows me to contribute in a way that is far more authoritative than the career politicians who only have the academic experience to call upon”.
