Terry Scriven and the Focus Team have been out and about in the New Forest this weekend, surveying people in Lyndhurst and Marchwood.
Fresh from the successful party conference in Brighton, Lib Dem campaigners are getting active across the country, knocking on doors and seeking the views of householders on a range of issues, including traffic problems, re-cycling and anti-social behaviour.
In the New Forest village of Marchwood, a key concern is the amount of HGV traffic travelling through the village. Lib Dem County Councillor, David Harrison says “So far, not a single person we have surveyed thinks that Hampshire County Council has done enough to tackle the ongoing problem of HGV traffic travelling through the village”.
Terry Scriven, Prospective Member of Parliament for the New Forest, helped out at both the Lyndhurst and Marchwood surveys. He says “Almost everyone I surveyed in Lyndhurst favours a by-pass solution to the traffic problems. In Marchwood, there is already a bypass, the A326. The County Council will just have to get all the lorry operators and drivers to use it!” |
