A number of key Liberal Democrat campaigners in the New Forest met this weekend in a special work-shop, hosted by Terry Scriven.
Terry is the prospective Member of Parliament for the New Forest East Constituency. He welcomed fellow campaigners to his home, utilising one of the out-buildings on his farm as the venue for important planning for the forthcoming General Election campaign.
Speculation has it that Gordon Brown will opt for a snap election, possibly as early as late October or early November. Terry says that the Liberal Democrat campaign machine is well oiled and is ready to launch a campaign as soon as an announcement is made.
The mood amongst campaigners is very positive. Terry says “The Liberal Democrats are the only realistic challengers to the Tories in the New Forest. A great many people are saying that they detect very little difference between Tory policy and New Labour policy. It’s therefore really important that we get out our message – a distinct approach on green issues, the NHS, crime and anti-social behaviour”.
The Campaigners were of course joined by “Yogi”, formally adopted as the Campaign mascot. |
