| Julia Sutton receiving the cheque from Cllr. Alan Weeks |
Councillor Alan Weeks has received a budget of £10,000 from the County Council, to be spent on local projects or initiatives in the area.
The first organisation to receive money from the scheme was West Totton Tots which is based at West Totton Community Centre.
West Totton Tots was started by Julia Sutton who, over the 17 years of operation, has seen thousands of children enjoy playing there.
The group meet on Wednesdays from 1.15 p.m. until 3.15 p.m. for 5 year olds & under, and again on Fridays from 10 a.m. until 3.15 p.m. for 4 year olds & under. Entry is £1.70 per family to cover the running costs and refreshments.
The grant of just over £250 was used to purchase additional play equipment (pictured).
Julia, who runs the group voluntarily, says “Running West Totton Tots is a reward in itself, but it’s nice to know that work is recognised and supported by Cllr. Weeks”.
Cllr. Weeks added, “For me it’s important, that as a community, we recognise the hard work of volunteers and support groups across Totton”.
If you are involved in an organisation that may be able to benefit from a grant, then contact Cllr. Alan Weeks either via the Freepost address overleaf, or by phone on 80870908 and he will be able to provide more details.
