Fact -Half the £60M cash came from the NHS. There was no intention to provide care home beds but to provide nursing care beds in order to avoid Government fines for bed-blocking in Hospitals.

They didn't provide residential beds to replace those inthe homes they are closing. Everyone knows the difference between a nursing home and a residential home.

The Tories are in a mess with their budget because they only noticed an £11M overspend 3 months before the end of the last financial year (how incompetent is that?) and they are closing care homes as a panic measure. Watch out for more closures.

COUNTY HALL:- Tory speak - Councillors Collett and Dash supported the £40M refurbishment

Fact - There has never been a vote on the issue of refurbishment. Cabinets decide these things. Liberal Democrats object to the fact that £40M is being spent on offices when care homes are being closed.

CARING TORIES?:- They say :We refurbish sheltered accommodation

Fact; All sheltered accommodation has and is remodelled on a continuous basis as regulations change and refurbishment is required as part of a long standing maintenance policy. Please don't let the Tories pretend they invented the policy out of the goodness of their hearts! Hypocritical spin.

PARKING CHARGES:- Tory speak: Lib Dem proposals will cost £11 per year on Council Tax an we will lose the benefits of 'demand management'

Fact: Firstly, The £11 figure has been made up. That is not our policy. Everyone remembers the Tories opposition to car park charges until they were elected then, after a term hoping people would forget, they reintroduced them which is why you can't trust the Tories. By the way,has anyone seen any evidence of 'parking demand management' other than extra parking on roads causing chaos?
