Concerned resident, Mrs Swift, has called in Councillor Terry Scriven who is rapidly getting the title of the ‘Trouble shooting Councillor’.
“The state of the road leading to Poulner Lakes is a an absolute disgrace for both walkers and car drivers said Mrs Swift. As far back as 2002 I was in touch with the Council, in writing, on the telephone and at meetings. They have never given a satisfactory answer to my questions. At one point the Town Clerk told me that work had been agreed and was in the pipeline. Well it’s a long pipeline.
When Councillor Scriven got Mrs Swift’s letter he went straight down there and was appalled at what he saw. The sunniest weekend of the year so far and the car park was deserted. About 400 meters of road is so bad it is virtually impossible to get to the car park without seriously damaging your car.

“I always use a smaller pedestrian entrance to the lakes so had not seen the state of the main entrance and I was unaware that there was a problem of access for cars”, said Councillor Scriven.
“It is also difficult to navigate the holes in the road if you are pushing a wheel or push chair. This means many people find great difficulty in enjoying one of Ringwood’s main beauty spots and attractions. What is the use of having such facilities on our doorstep if we do not ensure adequate access?”
Councillor Scriven has written to the Town Clerk and requested a detailed report on why it appears residents have been complaining about this problem for over four years and it has still not been sorted out. He has also written to the Chief Executive of Tarmac to see if their organisation would consider sponsoring an immediate repair. |
