County Councillor Lee Dunsdon dismayed how quickly the workmen started on the roof.
At the eleventh hour, County Councillor Lee Dunsdon has won a temporary halt to the demolition of Blackfield Infant School as slates were being removed from the roof.

Only the day before, he had attended  with local protestors to make  their feelings known by demonstrating outside the school in an effort to save a part of their local history. Many of them were youngsters who had attended the school before it was amalgamated with Blackfield Junior School to become a Primary.

Cllr Dunsdon said: “Hopefully a compromise can be found which will be looked on favourably with planners, Linden Homes and local residents. I would like to thank all the people who turned up to demonstrate their feelings on Thursday 15th February; they give me hope that community spirit is not dead."
