I have just listened to an interview (BBC24 29th August) where David Cameron is blaming the Government for everything that is wrong in our country today.
He states how much better things would be under a Conservative led Government.. Let us not delude ourselves that life would be better if David Cameron were Prime Minister.. Here are just three points to ponder::
- The reduction in the Armed Forces took place as a direct result of a Conservative Government initiative in the early 1990s called 'Option for Change' resulting in overstretch for our Servicemen and women.
- The divide between the 'haves and have nots' widened to its greatest during the Conservative Thatcher Government. The Blair/Brown Government have failed to address this and the divide has stayed at the disastrous Conservative high point.
- In Hampshire and the New Forest we have had a Conservative led County and District Council for over ten years. Many of the points that Cameron claims he is set to address could have been addressed to quite a degree locally by our Conservative led Councils - they have not been, indeed many situations have got worse.
Sadly, in the New Forest we have suffered a double whammy - an ineffective and inefficient Labour Government and an equally ineffective and inefficient Conservative led County and District Council.
It is time for change.
