Conservative Councillors on New Forest District Council are considering privatising the five Health & Leisure Centres in the New Forest, they are at Totton, Ringwood, Lymington, Applemore and New Milton.
The move has been slammed by Lib Dem Leisure Spokesman, Cllr. David Harrison, who says “ All the Health & Leisure Centres have established an excellent reputation.
In many cases, local people have contributed towards fund raising campaigns aimed at adding to and improving facilities that have long been available to people at a reasonable cost.
The Conservative administration on New Forest District Council are currently looking at proposals which will privatise the centres. I am opposed to such moves. Transferring community assets to profit-making commercial interests will not best serve the people we represent.
