“Marchwood Village has excellent facilities for educating young children”, so says Liberal Democrat County Councillor, David Harrison.
The Campaigning Councillor has been visiting a number of facilities in the village during the summer holidays, including a tour of Marchwood Infants School, a guided visit to Marchwood Junior School as well as popping into the Mulberry Centre, where pre-school children are cared for.
At the two schools, Councillor Harrison was able to chat to the Head Teachers and learn about ambitious plans for improving the schools still further. He is hoping to help all three establishments with a special grant giving facility, a £10,000 budget that has been provided to him by Hampshire County Council, to distribute to worthwhile projects in the division.
At Marchwood Junior school, there is a special project that is designed to benefit the wider community as well as the children, the construction of a special amphitheatre, that will be located on school grounds but available to groups involved in drama and music.
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner, Terry Scriven, was thrilled to learn about the project. He says “As Chairman of the Learning & Skills Council, I have spent a lot of time encouraging the use of school facilities to service the needs of the wider community. This is a great example of a worthwhile project that will benefit school pupils and local people”. |
