Local Lib Dem Councillors have welcomed extra investment in Hythe town centre that will mean a better quality environment for the traders and shoppers at Hythe Market.
The scheme to improve the large car-park area where the market takes place has not gone without a hitch. Officers on the New Forest District Council have twice had to go back and ask the Authority for more money so that the scheme could be completed. More work to the sub-structure was found necessary because it was only after work had commenced that the extra work necessary was discovered.
Hythe Councillor, Maureen Robinson, said “I was happy to support the extra investment needed to complete the project. Although it is a shame the work could not be completed within the original budget this is not uncommon with major engineering projects”.
Fellow Lib Dem Councillor, Brenda Smith says “Hythe market is a great attraction. There is a real buzz around the town on market days. I’m pleased that the contractors are paying a lot of attention to detail, making the area safer and more attractive for people to shop”
