| Liberal Democrat Campaigners are celebrating a successful campaign to restore one of the best scenic views in Totton.
Local people were horrified when, two years ago, a large wooden fence was erected both sides of a bridge at the Salmon Leap walk in Testwood. Councillor David Harrison says "My telephone was almost constantly engaged with people complaining about the fence. I went to see the gentleman responsible but he declined to do anything, even after I learned that he hadn't applied for planning permission".
A planning application was submitted, but the District Council wisely rejected it. A further application was made, but it was again rejected. The matter then went to an Appeal but a Government Inspector also rejected the application.
After a two-year battle, the fence was finally dismantled and local people can once again enjoy the beautiful views of the River Test. Fellow campaigner, Cllr. Alan Weeks says "This is an important victory for local people".
