| A major housing developer has been told to stop delaying and repair street lighting on the Admiralty View Estate in Marchwood.
Residents have been complaining about the poor condition of street lighting in Admiralty Way and Maritime Avenue for months. However, a steady stream of letters to the developers responsible for the lighting, Crest Nicholson Homes, appears to have been ignored.
County Councillor, David Harrison, has been called into help and has now served notice to the developers that they must undertake to fix the lights or risk legal action. He says "Apart from the obvious nuisance value, there is a safety issue at stake here. Residents and visitors to the Estate could easily hurt themselves by stumbling and falling in the darkness".
The Liberal Democrat County Council Member for Marchwood and Totton South has now put the company on notice that he expects immediate action to rectify the long standing problem. He adds "Crest Nicholson can delay repairing these lights no longer".
The New Forest District Council are unlikely to formally adopt these roads until such time as the lights are shown to be working properly. |
