| David Harrison & Alan Weeks discussing the lack of toilet facilities |

Once again, hard pressed Council tax payers in Totton are paying the price of the Conservative controlled District Council policy. Whilst service charges are going up, local facilities are closing. To make matters worse, the Tory party are investing heavily in other parts of the Forest.
The latest example to hit the headlines, causing a storm of protest, is the Tory refusal to repair and maintain the toilets at Testwood Recreation ground in Totton. The District Council has funded the cost of maintaining the much needed toilet block for as long as anyone can remember. However, in a shock move, the Tories are now refusing to continue the arrangement and have dismayed local people by saying that they will only pay the demolition costs.
Totton County Councillor, Alan Weeks, says "Testwood Recreation ground is heavily used by sports people and young children. In particular, the paddling pool is a popular seasonal attraction. It is unthinkable that there should be no toilet facilities".
Fellow Totton County Councillor, David Harrison, says "In recent months, the local Conservatives have seen to it that places like Brockenhurst and New Milton have enjoyed award winning, state of the art toilet facilities costing thousands of pounds. Most of the money used comes from the pockets of Totton tax payers. It is a total disgrace that they can get away with treating us so shabbily". |
