| The Tory controlled Hampshire County Council have admitted that vital funding to complete the repaving of New Milton High Street isn't now likely to be made available for another two years.
Local Lib Dem Campaigners have learned that the project to re-slab the south end of Station Road has come to a grinding halt whilst embarrassed Tory Councillors sort out financial problems at County Hall.
Local Lib Dem Councillor, Wyn Davies says "I don't think that local residents have realised that the scheme has come to a complete stop at the half way stage. They are required to pay the council tax on time and won't understand a delay of up to two years whilst the Conservative Council tries to sort out the financial muddle".
Fellow Lib Dem Campaigner, Ben Earwicker says "This work should be completed as a single project, as originally promised. I'm particularly worried about the prospect of elderly people tripping on the old, crumbled pavements. The residents of New Milton deserve rather better than this".
