| Councillor David Harrison, Spokesman for New Forest Liberal Democrats, has given a big "thumbs up" to new tax plans announced by his party today. The new proposals follow a 12 month review by a Liberal Democrat tax commission. They include a 2 pence cut in the basic rate of income tax, removal of the lowest earners from income tax and a raised liability for higher income earners and from capital gains tax.
A delighted David Harrison says "I certainly hope the plans are approved by the whole party at the Brighton Conference next month. These plans represent a much greater degree of fairness, simplicity and also pass the environmental tests. The plans will prove popular with voters".
