| Councillor David Harrison with Totton Air Cadets |
|
|
David Harrison, Chairman of Totton & Eling Town Council, was, this week, invited to meet Gary Harding, Detached Flight Commander of the 424 (City of Southampton) Squadron of Air Cadets. He therefore called at the Air Corps premises in Cheam Way Totton and learned of ambitious plans to expand the Totton operation.
The Air Cadets are keen to attract new recruits. They encourage young people, male and female ages 13 to 22 years, to take a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
Councillor Harrison was very impressed by the facilities and the enthusiasm of the group. He said "Organisations like the Air Training Corps help foster a spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship. I'm sure there must be many young people who live in Totton who would like to give the cadets a try and they will be surprised about the wide range of activities on offer. I only wish I was young again!"
Anyone interested in joining the Air Cadets can call at the Cheam Way Premises on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, or call Gary Harding on 023 8066 3100.
