District Council Candidates for Butts Ash and Dibden Purlieu - Brenda Smith and Malcolm Wade

Brenda Smith
Brenda Smith Brenda qualified as a Radiographer and has also worked for the Forestry Commission before becoming a full time mum.

She has served as a Parish councillor for over 20 years and was first elected to New Forest District Council in 1991. Brenda has served as Chairman of the Parish council on two occasions.

At New Forest District Council she was chairman of Environmental Services and was a prime mover in introducing a strong recycling agenda. Other committees include Planning and Licensing.

Brenda is on the management committee of Waterside Gymnasium (at Noadswood School). She has served as a school governor at Wildground School.

Brenda is a strong campaigner, orchestrated community action to stop MacDonalds in Dibden Purlieu, fought to save our Fire Station and, of course, the Dibden Bay campaign.

Other interests include the management board of our local Citizens Advice Bureau and Trusteeship of the Community Hall.
Malcolm Wade
Malcolm Wade Malcolm, a Business Unit manager in a Contact Lens Company, lives in Dibden Purlieu with his wife Sonia and their two grown up children.

He has served on Hythe & Dibden Parish Council for the last 16 years and was Chairman of the Council for 2 years.

A District Councillor for the last 12 years Malcolm is currently Shadow Cabinet spokesman for Crime & Disorder. He chairs the New Forest Environmental Protection Liaison Committee where he is robust in defence of our local environment. He also serves as member of the District Council General Purposes and Licensing Committee.

Malcolm serves on all Hythe & Dibden Parish Council business Committees where he takes a keen interest in crime and disorder issues, particularly those caused by drink and drugs.
