District Council Candidate for Furzedown and Hardley - Graham Parkes
Last updated Saturday 28-Apr-2007 7:20 PM
Graham Parkes
Graham Parkes Graham Parkes, a retired Ordnance Survey Surveyor, has lived in our community for over 30 years. He and his wife Yvonne have five children.

A very strong community activist, Graham first became involved locally through Windmill Copse & Sandford Park Residents Association. He later became a member of the Community Association Steering Committee which secured the first centre located on the present site in temporary buildings obtained from Esso. Since then Graham has worked tirelessly and effectively to obtain grants for the fine new building.

Graham was first elected to Hythe & Dibden Parish Council in 1991 and to New Forest District Council in 2003 where he serves on the Planning Development Control Committee and the Economy and Planning Panel. Graham, a founder member of Hythe Historians, is determined to preserve our local environment and character. He has used his professional background and dogged determination to defend us against a number of undesirable developments. Graham is also a former Chairman of our Parish Council.

Graham’s other activities include the Hythe & Dibden Community Woodland Project and the Hythe Heritage Centre which is located at the old Railway Station at Shore Road.
