Malcolm Fidler’s working life saw him visiting many places around the world as a ships engineer including, Australia, New Zealand, China, Malaya and Borneo.
Malcolm lived in Dibden Purlieu between 1965 and 1969, until he moved to his present abode in Blackfield.
Malcolm’s time at sea ended in 1998 when he retired and shortly after, he was elected as District Councillor in 1999 until the present day, serving on the Planning Development Control committee and the General Purposes and Licensing Committee.
Malcolm takes an avid interest in local issues, and can be often seen walking his 2 dogs in the nearby QE 2 Recreation ground.

Local people know Barbara Maynard as an extremely hard working District and Parish Councillor. Barbara was born in Portsmouth but has lived in the New Forest for over 30 years with her late husband, Jack Maynard, a former County Council Chairman.
Barbara has represented the community, both on the Parish Council for 20 years and on the District Council for 12 years, where she is a member of the Planning Development Control committee and the Appeals committee.
Barbara has campaigned on many local issues including the successful protest against the closure of the Lloyds Bank in Blackfield, and against the present threat of back garden development.
